The Entrepreneurial Series: Session II – Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Mindset
The Career and Placement Cell in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a session on the theme ‘The Entrepreneurial Series: Session II – Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Mindset’ for students of the FYB.Com, BBA(FS), BCA, B.Voc (ST) and M.Com Part I. The session was organized virtually through Google Meet on 8th March, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 p.m. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Pravin Pai Kakode, Executive Director, Upgrade Enterprises Pvt Ltd. The session was attended by 57 students. The session was organized with an objective of creating an interest in entrepreneurship among the students and helping them to shed their inhibitions so that they would think about taking up entrepreneurship in the future.
Asst. Prof. Sheryl Sanches, Convener, Career Cell, welcomed the Resource Person and the students. Ms. Koel Jana, student of FY B.Com C introduced the Speaker. Mr. Pravin Kakode began the session with the quote ‘Set a goal so big, you cant achieve it. Until you grow into the person who can achieve it.’ He gave certain basic rules for Entrepreneurship#ZaynaAsheKaiNA, Management by common sense, Choice between what is easy and what is right.
Mr. Kakode stressed the importance of the customer in the business and expressed that the needs and wants of the customer are of utmost priority in business. A business can be successful only if it ensures to satisfy customers’ needs and wants.
He stated that we all have limited resources and unlimited avenues. As an entrepreneur, one needs to learn to work with a team. The objective should be to achieve terrific results, while having fun.
Mr. Kakode shared various thoughts with the students such as: lead by example, focus on solutions and not on issues and not at all on people involved in the issue, catch people doing the right things, unlearning, honest relationships, success belongs to the entrepreneur and the team, make mistakes and make new ones, individual thinking v/s team thinking, none above organization, accept and respect the differences, observe, copy, homologate and apply.
Students were given a few tips to develop an entrepreneurial spirit such as: Learning through various sources such as MOOCS, take up part time jobs for the purpose of exposure, build your network, build resilience, work on agility and flexibility and fail fast. They were also advised about three key life skills i.e. Interpersonal skills, Priority Management and Money Management. The students gained immensely from the session. Ananya Savalgi from FY B.Com D proposed the Vote of Thanks . 57 students attended the session.
