Plantation Drive “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”
The Vasundhara Green Club & Faculty Recreation Cell of the VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, organized a plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” on 9th August 2024 in the college campus, engaging both staff and students in a meaningful environmental conservation effort. Inspired by the nationwide initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” led by the Prime Minister of India, this activity has emerged as a powerful movement for environmental conservation, combining the deep cultural reverence for mothers, and highlighting the urgent need to protect and restore the environment.
During the event, the Officiating Principal of the college, Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai distributed plant saplings to staff and students, encouraging everyone to plant a tree in honor of their mothers. The initiative aims to increase greenery, combat climate change, and foster a sense of responsibility toward the environment
The success of this initiative is that collective will of the staff and students to create a greener, more sustainable future.
Expected Outcome of the Activity:
The initiative would likely lead to a significant increase in tree planting, contributing to greater green cover in urban and rural areas.
