NCC (Navy) Annual Training Camp
1 Goa Naval Unit NCC organized a ten-day Annual Training Camp for JD, JW, SD, SW from 2nd to 11th January 2024 at 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC, Sports Complex, Peddem, Mapusa, Goa. The objectives of the ATC were:
(a) To expose Naval cadets to camp life, outdoor activities, and community living.
(b) To carry out intensive and collective training of cadets in respective service subjects.
(c) To bring cadets together from different social backgrounds and develop a sense of responsibility, self-reliance, and bonhomie.
(d) To develop qualities of comradeship, leadership, character, and discipline.
(e) To inculcate the habit of community living and learn the dignity of labor.
(f) To train cadets with the NCC syllabus with special emphasis on specialized and practical training.
At the outset, the camp commandant, Captain S Ram Kumar, addressed the cadets, outlining the camp’s expectations. Cadets were familiarized with the camp routine order and sensitized to various aspects like fitness, health, and hygiene. Under the guidance of the ANOs, CTOs, and PI staff, the cadets gained knowledge and experience in various areas of naval life, including semaphore, drill, yoga, weapon training, tent pitching, rigging, etc. The cultural program played a significant role in fostering bonds of national integration and nurturing the spirit of patriotism.
On January 7, 2024, Group Commander of Belgaum, Colonel Mohan Naik, visited the campsite and felicitated five cadets who completed AINSC. PO Cadet Shudeepa Oli and LC Melissa Solomon were among the five felicitated. The entire program during the group commander’s visit was coordinated by Sub Lt. Pretty Pereira, ANO of the NCC Naval wing of the College. She also made a presentation for the group commander’s visit. Our college cadets were selected to perform a group dance for the group commander’s visit.
During the cultural evening, our cadets showcased a vibrant group dance representing the Karnataka and Goa Directorate. The talent and efforts of our cadets were recognized through several awards and recognitions:
· First prize in Group Dance.
· First prize in Poetry Writing (SD).
· CC Laxita Suthar received a token of appreciation trophy for her outstanding performance.
· PO Cadet Shudeepa Oli and LC Melissa Solomon were felicitated for completing AINSC.
· Trophy of Excellence.
The 12 cadets were under the guidance of Sub Lt. Pretty Pereira, ANO of the NCC Naval wing of our institution, who also served as the in charge of the girls’ division. The camp saw participation from 400 cadets representing 26 institutions.
