NATIONAL INTER-COLLEGIATE EVENT ‘ CHANAKYA BHOOMI’

The Department of Commerce and the Department of Management Studies successfully hosted the first National Inter-Collegiate Event, ‘Chanakya Bhoomi’ on 15th & 16th March 2024. The theme of the event was “Future Forward: Exploring Nextgen Business and Financial Trends”. The event attracted participation from 10 colleges across India.

The teams, which included 5 outstation teams, competed for 7 different competitions and the title of overall champions. The sub – events were as follows: Econorama, Ethical Edge Challenge, Corporate Tycoon, Capital Canvas, Business Forward, Executive Excellence and Niti Samvaad. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Kirit Maganlal, Founder, Magsons Supercentre.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Kirit Maganlal, Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya, Vice-Principal Dr. Edwin Barreto and Prof. Sanjay Dessai, B. Com Programme Coordinator Dr. Shami Pai, HoD Management Studies Ms. Snehal Alve, Student Coordinators, and a representative of the participating college. Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya welcomed the gathering and conveyed her best wishes to all the participants. The Chief Guest, in his address, emphasized on the greatness of Chanakya. He also commended the efforts of the students in organising such events.

In addition, various tasks and activities were conducted as a part of PR challenge among participants.

Day two featured a thought-provoking Roundtable discussion on the future of business and financial trends. Eminent personalities from law, banking, technology, business, and management participated, highlighting topics like artificial intelligence (AI), fintech, entrepreneurship, the ease of doing business, and the need for continuous skill development. The discussion was moderated by the Executive Director of Emco Goa Pvt ltd, Mr. Suhas Mallya, and included CA Pankaj Kakode, Adv. Prasanna Timble, Mr. Vishwavijay Singh, Mr. Milind Anvekar, CA Pallavi Salgaonkar and Mr. Vaikunth Dempo as panelist.

Post the discussion, a cultural programme was performed by our students showcasing the cultural heritage of Goathrough folk dances including Virbhadra and Kunbi.

Mr. Deepak Bandekar, Chairman GMA, was the Chief Guest while Mr. Chirag Naik, Director, Commonwealth Developers Pvt. Ltd, was the Guest of Honor for the valedictory function. The Department of Commerce, MAHE, Manipal emerged as the overall winners of Chanakya Bhoomi 2024, with KLE College of Business Administration (Lingaraj College) securing the second place. Notably, the Dept. of Commerce, MAHE, Manipal, also triumphed in the overall PR challenge.

The event’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of Mr. Ainsley Bernard, Ms. Swati Bhat, and Mr. Omkar Pawaskar, along with the dedicated faculty members and students of the College. The student coordinators were Ms. Abha Naik and Mr. Suyash Patki.

Chanakya Bhoomi 2024 proved to be a valuable platform for young minds to explore the evolving landscape of business and finance. It fostered a spirit of healthy competition, collaboration, and cultural exchange, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
