Hands-on workshop on “e-Portfolio designing”
The Tech Trendz Club of the Department of Computer Science in association with Career Cell &Training Internship Placement Cell organized an a hands-on workshop on “e-Portfolio Designing” on 15th December 2023 in the smart classroom from 11.15 am to 1.15 pm., for the students of BCA and B.Voc.(ST). Mr. Andrew Barreto, Assistant Professor from Chowgule College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Margao served as the Resource Person. The primary objective of the workshop was to guide students in creating a digital space that showcases evidence of their educational and/or professional achievements, along with reflective writing about their experiences.
In preparation for the hands-on session, pre-workshop tasks were assigned on December 14, 2023. Students were instructed to collect relevant materials such as photos, posters, videos, etc., related to assignments or projects they had undertaken. Additionally, they were asked to write an introduction about themselves to facilitate a thoughtful and comprehensive e-portfolio.
On December 15, 2023, the workshop began with a formal introduction of Mr. Andrew Barreto by Ms. Riya Shinde, a student of FY BCA B. Mr. Barreto initiated the session with an overview of portfolios and e-portfolios, discussing various types and emphasizing the importance of creating a personal brand through introspective writing. He provided insights into when and how to create an e-portfolio and shared details about free e-portfolio platforms, including site.google.com, Wix.com, and FlipHTML5.
Students were then tasked with creating their e-portfolios using site.google.com and the resources collected during the pre-workshop phase. Each participant had to articulate their learning philosophy, with special recognition given to Zabez Rodrigues, a student of SY B.Voc.(ST), for his outstanding write-up.
The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Shahrul Hirekeri from FY BCA Div B. Feedback from students, including Bhakti Mirashi, Shahid Shaikh, and Showil Rebello, reflected the collaborative and appreciative spirit of the workshop. 21 students attended this workshop.
