Educational Field Trip for FY B.Com – Introduction to Agripreneurship Students
The Department of Commerce and Management organised an enriching educational field trip for the FY B.Com Div A and C students on 18th March, 2024. This excursion took them to Samant Agro Farm located in Dabal Dharbandora, Goa, as a vital component of their Introduction to Agripreneurship Course. The primary objective of this field trip was to provide students with practical insights into farming and Agripreneurship.
During the visit, students were led through the diverse array of crops cultivated at the farm. They received detailed explanations about the cultivation and harvesting processes of various agricultural products such as cabbage, cauliflower, red okra, watermelon, cucumber, and kidney beans (alsane). Additionally, they were briefed on the irrigation techniques employed and the use of pesticides and insecticides to safeguard the produce. Furthermore, the students gained understanding about the role of nitrogen in vegetable cultivation.
Moreover, the trip served as an opportunity for students to become acquainted with the agricultural landscape of Goa. They were informed about the different benefits and subsidies accessible to farmers in the region, thereby broadening their understanding of the agricultural sector beyond mere cultivation techniques. The students, accompanied by their subject teachers including Assistant Professors Ms. Kalpana Parab, Ms.Namrata Ugvekar, and Ms. Prashanti Bhamaikar, found the experience both enjoyable and educational. 39 students participated in this enlightening excursion, which provided them with a firsthand glimpse into the world of agripreneurship and instilled in them a deeper appreciation for agricultural practices.
