Counseling Cell Orientation

The Student Welfare Cell, in association with the Counseling Cell, the Department of Management Studies, the Department of Computer Science, and the Post Graduate Department of Commerce organized an Orientation Program for First Year and Post Graduate students of all the programmes. The sessions took place during the month of July, from the 15th July 2024 till 31st July 2024.

The primary objective of the orientation was to raise awareness on mental health problems and inform students about Counseling services provided to them by the college. The speaker for the orientation, Ms. Eshani Bakhle, College Counselor, began the session by educating the students on the signs of good mental health, the roles of professionals working in the mental health field, misconceptions surrounding mental health. She also provided a brief overview of various mental illnesses and discussed the common mental health problems faced by students.

Ms. Bakhle then informed the services provided by Counseling cell, which include individual Counseling sessions, joint sessions, career guidance and other mental health-related activities organized by Counseling Cell. She explained students the counselling process, which encompasses exploring case history, assisting client/student in coping up with difficulties, building action or thought-based technique, the ethics of counseling, and the treatment plan.

The orientation was concluded with guidance on when students should seek help for mental health-related issues. The program aimed to empower students with the knowledge and resources to maintain their mental well-being throughout their academic journey.
