Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law

 

Established in 1979, Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law (GRKCL) is the only Law College in South Goa and during its fertile existence of four decades, it has fruitfully enkindled the torch of legal education in the State of Goa and contributed to the legal fraternity in large numbers. It has strived to serve the student community with passion and dedication.  With the infrastructure which speaks volumes, the state of the art Law tech chamber, a fully furnished moot court hall, an auditorium which can house over 200 audience, a fully Wi-Fi enabled institutional premises, a playground and an activity hall, the Institution has lived its ambitious motto of “excellence always in legal education”.  The Institution whereby its alumni has occupied a pivotal role in the legal fraternity, the PTA that aspires the vision to strive for excellence, the Institution has come a long way. 

 

The Institution boasts of a faculty which is young, dynamic and skillful, who have contributed towards its success. It is led by a young and dynamic Principal Dr. Maria Goretti Simoes, who has left no stone unturned to nurture and make the Institution the best in the West. The various associations of the Institution along with its stakeholders have given practical insights into the functioning of the legal justice delivery system.

In its endeavour to enable the students’ community that aspires to compete at the State and National level in judicial, administrative and other allied professions, the institution launched the 'GRK-CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE’. The purpose of GRK-CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE is to invite experts from various fields/professions to interact with our students, appraise them of their respective professions and educate the students on how to prepare for the various competitive exams. The practical exposure that the Institution gives its students and the contribution of its students to it speaks volumes, as the learners have made a commendable mark in the entire country.  The Institution has several multifaceted Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) that it has entered into in order to take the institution to greater heights.  The Institution works through its various cells, committees and societies and has won several accolades as the best legal aid clinic, the best institution in the western region and the best in the South Goa district of the state of Goa.  The Institution can boast of its first ever International Competition, viz. Crisis Control International Competition that attracts students from around the globe.  The Institution has made giant leaps in the field of legal education and works with dedication and zeal to ensure its upswing.

 

The experiential working of its learners with the law enforcement agencies, NGOs, lawyers, government departments while still learning is commendable.  The Institution has given its stakeholders an insight into the Judiciary by inviting judicial officers and reminiscing the views that they put forth to the learners.  The state of the art moot court hall gives its learners insights into the practical working of the courts and the learners have made sure they would be fruitful to become beacons of legal education in the state of Goa.  With hard work, dedication and perseverance, the learners have ensured that the institution reaches its ultimate pinnacle and be hailed as the BEST INSTITUTION IMPARTING LEGAL KNOWLEDGE in the State of Goa.

 

The Institution has revolutionized the use of technology through its proactive Board of Management led by the dynamic and versatile leader and President of the Vidya Vikas Mandal, Shri Nitin Kunkolienker, a visionary par excellence who has led from the front. His untiring vision to make the Institution technology friendly has seen the light of the day.

 

As it is said, this is just a beginning and not the end; GRKCL has a long way to go, always striving for excellence in legal education and making its learners learn law before they venture into practice and interpret the law.
