Session on “Cyber Safety”
The Women’s Cell of the of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, in association with the Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW) and the Cyber Wellness Centre organized a session on “Cyber Safety” for the students of the College on 27th July 2024 from 12.00 pm – 1.00 pm in the Smart classroom. The resource person for the session was Mr. Arun James (Centre In-Charge, Cyber Wellness Centre).
Ms. Sameeha Siddiqui, a student of FYBBA, served as the compere for the session. Following a floral welcome, the session commenced with insightful remarks from Mrs. Ranjita Pai, Charmain of Goa State Commission for Women, who discussed punishable measures related to cybercrime. The Officiating Principal, Prof. Sanjay P. Sawant Dessai also shared a few words, followed by Mrs. Upasana Mazgaonkar, the Member Secretary.
Mr. Arun James provided an in-depth overview of various types of cybercrimes and the corresponding punishments. He offered guidance on using two-factor authentication (2FA) on platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp to prevent account hacking. He also outlined the procedures to follow if an account is hacked.
Refreshments were provided by GSCW to the attendees. The session, attended by 68 students, was highly informative and well-received.
