INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY – REPORT (VVA Primary/Secondary Section)
“Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one’s being, from bodily health to self realization. Yoga means union – the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.”B.K.S. Iyengar
VIDYA VIKAS ACADEMY, Margao, Goa, participated enthusiastically in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to celebrate International Yoga Day.
A week-long training program by Shri Rama Naik saw a good attendance from NCC Cadets, other students and staff.
Staffs were also trained by Shri Omana Kuttan to have yoga sessions involving breathing exercises, in their classrooms. When you inhale, you are taking the strength from God. When you exhale, it represents the service you are giving to the world.
On June 21, staff and students reported at school at 0645 hrs. The yoga session commenced at 0700hrs and ended at 0733 hrs after which all were served a healthy fruit beverage. Both staff and students appreciated the importance and benefits of yoga for a stress-free and healthy life.
The NCC Cadets participated in the yoga programme at the Multipurpose Hall, P.J.N. Stadium, Fatorda Goa.
The Senior Secondary students and staff attended a Yoga programme at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao Goa, at 3 pm.
Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured. Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.
We at the Academy pledge to adopt practices for a happier and healthier lifestyle to enable us to contribute better to bettering this world.
