Dissertation Orientation for M.Com Part-II Students
The Post Graduate Department of Commerce organised an Orientation Session on 28th June 2024 at 11:30 am for M.Com Part-II students. Ms. Valencia Baptista, a faculty member of the M.Com program, conducted the session to guide students on their dissertation course. The orientation aimed to acquaint students with the guidelines outlined in Goa University Ordinance OA-35. Ms. Valencia began with an overview, discussing credit allocation, marking schemes, and the course objectives. She emphasized that the dissertation carries 16 credits, totaling 400 marks over 240 hours, highlighting its importance in developing a high-quality research report.
Furthermore, Ms. Valencia detailed the evaluation criteria, which comprises three components: research conceptualization (100 marks), research internship (100 marks), and the research report (200 marks). She explained that each component is assessed based on specific criteria such as presentation quality and adherence to guidelines set by the Dissertation Facilitation Committee (DFC).
The session continued with Ms. Valencia outlining the dissertation stages and providing a comprehensive breakdown of each chapter’s content. She emphasized the mandatory submission of both a soft copy and a spiral-bound copy of the dissertation in a standard format, due one week before the end of semester IV.
The session concluded at 12:30 pm with a discussion addressing various questions and concerns raised by the students. 37 students attended the session.
