Celebration of 10th International Yoga Day
The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated by the Department of Physical Education & Sports in collaboration with NSS, NCC Army, and NCC Navy Wing of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, Goa. The event took place in the College’s multipurpose hall from 8.00 am to 9.00 am on 21st June 2024. The theme for this year’s Yoga Day was “Yoga for Women Empowerment.”
The celebration began with a prayer, setting a serene and focused atmosphere. Participants were guided through a series of asanas, each chosen for its benefits to physical and mental well-being. The following asanas were performed:
Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)
Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)
Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend)
Vakrasana (Twist Pose)
Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose)
Uttanapadasana (Raised Leg Pose)
Naukasana (Boat Pose)
Shalabhasana (Locust Pose)
Kapalbhati (Breathing Exercise)
Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing)
Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breathing)
The yoga session concluded with a meditation practice, allowing participants to relax and center themselves. This was followed by the taking of the Yoga Day pledge, affirming their commitment to incorporating yoga into their daily lives for overall well-being. Mr Saurab Raikar, Instructor of Physical Education & Sports demonstrated the asanas.
