Gandhi Jayanti / Cleanliness Drive Held (VVA Primary/Secondary Section)

Students of 8 B conducted a Special Assembly to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The assembly commenced with the garlanding of the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. Students spoke about how Gandhi changed the course of Indian history. Some students read his statements on truth, communal harmony, non-violence, satyagraha while others read reflectors on Gandhi by great leaders. The Pre-Primary students also participated in the assembly along with the senior students.

The assembly concluded with Gandhi’s favourite bhajan sung by Falgun and his group.

A tribute to the thought of Mahatma Gandhi was given on 3rd October 2015 by conducting a cleanliness drive in the school campus by students of Classes 6 to 9. Tr. Balika and Sir Kuttan were in-charge of the drive. The work was equally distributed among the teachers, students and the non-teaching staff. The school campus, garden, parking area and the lawns were cleaned.

The waste which was collected was segregated into dry, residual and wet waste. The wet waste was put into the composting pit and the dry and the residual waste was stored in the store room to be sent for recycling.

The objective behind this drive was to instill in children importance and love for cleanliness.
