Session on ‘Careers in Civil Services – UPSC and GPSC’
The PG Department of Commerce and the TIP Cell in association with Abhyankar’s IAS Academy, Pune organized a Session on ‘Careers in Civil Services – UPSC and GPSC’ on 30th August 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Aashay Abhyankar, Director and Mentor of Abhyankar’s Academy. The session aimed to provide students with insights into the opportunities, preparation strategies and challenges associated with pursuing a career in Civil Services. Miss Aemisha Azavedo of M.Com-I welcomed the students to the session and Miss Vanshita Naik of M.Com- Part I introduced the Resource Person.
Mr. Aashay Abhyankar commenced the session with a story about a boy who overcame challenges and secured top rank in UPSC and GPSC exam. This story served as an example of dedication, hard work and perseverance. The speaker shared his personal experience, motivating students to consider Civil services as a rewarding career option. The eligibility criteria for appearing in UPSC and GPSC exams were explained. The speaker elaborated on the three stages of the examination: Preliminary, Main and Interview. He emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach in preparing for the exams. He also shared valuable insights into effective preparation strategies including time management, study materials, mock test and the importance of current affairs. He stressed the significance of consistency and perseverance throughout the preparation journey.
The session concluded with an interactive question and answer segment. Students engaged in discussion with the speaker, seeking clarifications on various aspects of the Civil Services examination and the subsequent career paths. The session ended at 12:30 and Miss.
