Medicinal plant gardening ‘SANJEEVANI VATIKA’
The Green Club (Vasundhara) of the College organized medicinal plant gardening activity ‘Sanjeevani Vatika’ on 14th August 2023. The objective of this activity was to create an educational platform for students to learn about medicinal plants and their applications, encourage sustainable practices and increase awareness of the importance of preserving indigenous plant species, to foster an environment of experiential learning, connecting theoretical knowledge with practical applications, to contribute to the College’s greening efforts and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus, to create awareness of conservation and traditional uses of herbs and medicinal plants to students and staff, and to also be a place where students and others can learn how to identify and conserve these important plants.
A suitable location on the College campus was identified for the medicinal plant garden. Factors considered for this selection included sunlight exposure, soil quality, and accessibility.A diverse array of medicinal plants such as Tulsi, Brahmi, Haldi, Aloe Vera etc. representing various species and their health benefits were brought by faculty members and students as a measure to contribute to this initiative. 07 participants took part in this activity.
