56th A. D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition
The Department of Economics and Banking organized the 56th AD Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition on 28th October 2022, from 10:00 a.m. onwards. The Forum of Free Enterprise encourages this annual elocution competition and also sponsors the cash prizes and certificates for the same.
The compere for the competition, Ms. Angel Costa from FY B.Com welcomed the audience, provided a brief about the 56th A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition and introduced the judges for the competition. The Principal Prof. Prita D. Mallya then addressed the gathering. She appreciated the importance of elocution competitions as the popularity of such competitions among students is declining. She also highlighted the role of Forum of Free Enterprise and encouraged the audience to learn more about the Forum.
8 students from the B.Com and M.Com programmes participated and presented their views on the topics. The topics for the elocution competition given by the Forum of Free Enterprise were: “Managing the Economy during a Pandemic”, “Making India a $5 trillion Economy by 2027 (80 Years of Independence)”, “The Changing Role of International Finance in Developing Economies” and “The Menace of Increasing Cyber Crimes and Solution”. A panel of three judges from the College namely Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Assistant Professor in English, Ms. Sheryl Sanches, Assistant Professor in Commerce and Mr. Wendham Gray, Assistant Professor in Computer Science judged the competition based on content, presentation and elocution.
Assistant Professor Ms. Stesa Pereira, the teacher in charge of the competition declared the results which were as follows:
1st Prize: Dimple Tavde, TY B.Com (Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs 2500/-)
2nd Prize: Simran Andra, TY B.Com (Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs 1500/-)
3rd Prize: Brionna Noronha, SY B.Com (Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs 1000/-)
4th Prize: Nandhana MR, SY B. Com (Certificate)
5th Prize: Harsh Kalal, FY B.Com (Certificate)
