Women’s cell – ‘International Women’s day Celebration

The Women’s Cell celebrated the ‘International Women’s Day’ on 8th March 2022.  The current  theme for the occasion  was ‘Gender Equality Today for a Better Tomorrow’.

On this occasion, the Cell organized following activities:

A solo/pair/group competition on the campaign theme: #BREAK THE BIAS: The teaching staff enthusiastically posted their pictures with captions for the competition. This event aimed creating and sensitizing gender equality amongst the staff and students of the C As a reward, the pictures will be posted on the College website photo gallery.
Promotion of Women Entrepreneurs-An Outreach Activity: This initiative began in 2020-2021 and to keep it going the Cell promoted homemade products of two more Women Entrepreneurs this year:
Surekha Mallikarjun Govekar: Ms. Govekar from Mormugao, sells homemade masala business named MMG, a venture she begun in 2019 with great struggle after her husband lost his job in 2016.  She has obtained license from FSSAI for her business.  She arranged for funds by applying for gold loan.The masalas are made in a hygienic conditions, with no use of any chemicals or preservatives. On an average she manages to sell 20 kgs garam masala per month.
Akanksha & Akshaya: The two sisters run a home based baking business hailing from Vasco. They have been baking for over two years and have invented more than 100 customized The pandemic bought an opportunity to start their own business. She caters to orders from Pilar, Miramar, Panjim and Margao.

The Women’s Cell members distributed garam masala packet and chocolate mousse cake to all staff members as a promotional activity.
