Session on Emotional Intelligence

A session on “Emotional Intelligence” was held for the Non-Teaching staff members of  the College on February 28, 2022   from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. in the Library Reading room. The Resource Person was the College Counsellor, Ms. Amba Prabhu.

The session began with a brief discussion on emotions and the importance they hold in our life. A small activity was conducted, called Dumb Charades of emotions. A volunteer was asked to guess the emotion and the others were asked to enact the said emotion.

The speaker moved on to explain what emotional intelligence actually is and why it is so important in today’s world. She explained the five components of emotional intelligence and how they play a crucial role in our daily life. Then she explained the importance of emotional intelligence at the workplace and how it can improve one’s performance and relations at work. Finally the participants were given an emotional intelligence self assessment test which included 20 questions. Once the participants finished answering the questionnaire they were explained the scoring and were asked to evaluate themselves and measure their emotional quotient.

The floor was then kept open for participants to share their inputs and to ask questions or queries. The session concluded at 3:00 p.m.
